Rob’s First Tastes of Tumble 22

I first came across Tumble 22 when a neighbor brought me a box of their fried chicken. I’ve been waiting since then to give them a proper tasting.

That moment arrived last week when I visited their store on Lake Austin Boulevard (at the former site of the Magnolia Café). They have a nice combination of both inside outside tables achieving a slick look.

And then there’s the chicken! They have ranges of heat from mild to pretty damned  hot. I chose the  “wimpy” chicken which works for folks like me who chose to have their palates intact when they’re done!

Key point though: the flavor of the chicken resonates across all levels of heat. So do not be deterred! The first bite of my chicken just exploded into a melange of flavors. The batter was crisp and not the least bit greasy. The brown and white meats were tender and juicy along with being perfectly cooked.

You know, this town has been waiting for the quintessential fried chicken spot for some time. I think it’s safe to say that time has now arrived.
