Waterloo
to Introduce family-Style Skillet Breakfasts for Two People or More
It is well known that
Waterloo Ice house does some pretty cool breakfasts. But their newest
concept sounds pretty intriguing.
The idea is to combine fresh scrambled eggs,
bacon, sausage, crispy hashbrowns, and homemade buttermilk pancakes
in a cast iron skillet served at your table. If the guest wants
a refill, no problemo. It’s all in the one basic price.
Their also going to do a Mexican skillet which
will include scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, cheddar cheese, hashbrowns,
pico de gallo, salsa, refried beans and fresh tortillas.
This will be ready for customer testing
soon at the Waterloo location at 2222 and 360. Stay tuned to www.diningoutwithrobbalon.com
for more details.

Great
News: Dot’s Set to Reopen off #1825 in Pflugerville
Over the past two years,
I’ve undoubtedly gotten more mail asking me when Dot’s was going
to reopen that on any other subject. I’m delighted to report that
I can finally answer in the affirmative. As you will remember, the
original location of Dot’s was totally destroyed by fire several
years ago. Despite a number of fund raisers held in her behalf,
the rebuilding fund was growing very slowly.
However, she has apparently won the support
of some new investors. Dot’s is redoing the old Mr. Gatti’s location
off #1825 in Pflugerville and should open within the next couple
of months. We will keep you posted as to the exact day and hour.
And when that day arrives, get there early!

Lambert’s
Downtown Barbecue to Open in Early Fall
Finally, the so-called 2nd St. entertainment
district will actually get a locally owned restaurant. Lou Lambert
and Larry McGuire, the creative forces behind the former Lambert’s
on S. Congress, are back in business with a new and much larger
(over 6,000 square feet) concept.
They are planning to open Lambert’s Downtown
Barbecue at 2nd and Guadalupe sometime in October.
This will be upscale fare with am emphasis
on steaks, seafood, and of course, ribs and brisket. A lot of
the popular dishes from the old Lambert’s are being recreated
as well. With the flair that two very adept chefs can bring to
the table. I’m looking forward to the opening and as always, we’ll
keep you posted here at www.diningoutwithrobbalon.com.
