Maybe it’s the Moon or the Smoke from Mexico

It seems that over the past few weeks, I’ve heard more horror stories than I have in a year about our readers’ bad experiences at restaurants with either service, food, or both.

I don’t know what’s going on. Preferably and hopefully, this is just some aberration brought on by inexplicably strange environmental phenomena. A guy wrote me last week saying he had bitten into a steak that included a giant staple from the packing crate. He was bleeding profusely and was in considerable pain. The young manager offered to buy him dessert for his trouble. Arrgh!!! Heard from another reader that his wife found some sort of rodent part in her pasta. Again, the meal was not comped.

Even the best restaurants can have a bad night but the above two examples are simply unacceptable. Have you had a comparable experience in the past month? Write to us at info@diningoutwithrobbalon.com and let us know. You may use the name of the restaurant in your letter, but in my follow-up on this blog, I will omit the names unless there are multiple infractions.

A restaurant has only one chance to win over a customer. Egregious screw ups like those above are way beyond the pasta not being al dente. They point to some dramatically bad operational systems at that restaurant. So have at it readers and let us know!
