Jovita’s, a long-time Austin restaurant was raided early Thursday morning after an FBI raid prompted by an investigation of drug trafficking at the restaurant itself, and at several houses behind it. Eighteen people were arrested for their alleged involvement in heroin distribution, including Amado Pardo whose family owns Jovita’s.

This is not the first incident involving the Austin hospitality community and the Feds. A number of bars on 6th St. were closed several months ago amidst charges of money laundering.
