Got $45,000 You Don’t Particularly Need at the Moment? Book an Evening with Dan Duckhorn

If you are one of the lucky Austin residents to whom the expenditure of a substantial amount of cash on what may seem to many as a frivolous indulgence is no big deal, then have I got a great suggestion for you!

Dan Duckhorn

For a mere $45,000 you can book an evening with Dan Duckhorn, the man who was dubbed by a former New York Times wine critic as “Mr. Merlot.” Duckhorn founded his winery on ten acres in Napa Valley in 1976 and has gone on to prove that Paul Giamatti’s Merlot-loathing character in the quirky movie Sideways was completely off base in his disdain for this wine.

Duckhorn has become one of the most prestigious bands in the wine industry garnering high ratings from Wine Spectator, Wine and Spirits and the Wine Advocvate. His bold move of introducing a stand-alone Merlot shocked the industry. But Duckhorn has decidedly had the last laugh.

So, if you are so inclined, invite ten of your best pals to your home and Duckhorn will show up with extremely rare vintages from his private collection. A full dinner will be prepared and a marvelous time will be had by all. Duckhorn is quite the raconteur and has lived a most interesting life.
