First Bites at Citizen Eatery Locally Sourced Vegetarian Restaurant

This is not a full review, but I was so impressed with Citizen Eatery on Burnet that I had to share this with you. This is a family owned business featuring vegetarian food. No, nothing as extreme at the former Beets on W. 5th but good, rib-sticking fare.

I loved the Citizen Scramble, a rich, irresistible melange of scrambled eggs, mushrooms, onions, potatoes, kale, cheddar cheese and wheat toast. Better yet, they serve the dish all day, which I love, because I’m an unabashed breakfast fan. Did I miss the proverbial sausage or bacon? Surprisingly, not at all!

I also tried their Yuca Fritters which were served with an aioli sauce. Normally I eat these with a mojo sauce, but the aioli worked quite well and the fritters were perfectly cooked, not at all stringy as can often be the case.

More to come on Citizen Eatery, but wanted to give you a heads-up on this interesting new restaurant.
