Easter Brunch Suggestions

Posted by on Mar 16, 2016 in News

Easter has an early arrival this year. March 27th is just around the corner but seats for Easter Brunch are filling fast. So here are 15 of my favs for your consideration. Enjoy the day!

The Russian House

This authentic Russian restaurant offers a colorful and historic ambience. The food is good as well but remember this is not a restaurant that tricks up classic ethnic cuisine for the American palate. So  NaZdorovie and enjoy!

The-Oasis-Restaurant

The Oasis

With a full lake and Spring-like weather, the vastly improved Oasis is a great spot for Easter dining. Chef Gerald’s Pork Fajitas are a delight and the the Fireballs are irresistible. The Tex-mex fare is also very tempting.

Trio Restaurant

Trio

Exec chef Elmar Prambs has reached the stage of his career where he really doesn’t need to be at this Four Seasons Gem on a Sunday. But he undoubtedly will be there and that’s one of the primary reasons this place has the BEST brunch in Austin.

Estancia Churrascaria

What a great spot for meat lovers and vegetarians! The different cuts of grilled meats are presented on skewers and brought to your table by servers dressed as Gauchos. The salad bar is enormous and the good news is that Estanacia, at the Arboretum, is less expensive than its downtown counterpart, Fogo de Chao.

Cafe Blue

They have moved into their new location at the Galleria but the food has not changed a bit. Mouth-watering seafood dishes, amazing bacon Clam Chowder and Lobster Eggs Benedict are just a few things among many this annual member of our Top 20 has to offer.

The District Restaurant

The District

If you appreciate diversity, you’ll love The District at Escarpment and Slaughter. Amir and Ali, the Hajimaleki brothers, have crafted a damned good restaurant with dishes ranging from Middle Eastern to New American.

Chinatown-Westlake-Restaurant

Chinatown Westlake

What better than a dim sum brunch for Easter? Chinatown in Bee Caves has taken this 500-year old Chinese tradition and seamless woven it into Ronald Cheng’s endlessly evolving tapestry of culinary delights. Has been and remains, despite formidable competition from Wu Chow, my favorite dim sum place.

Lenoir

This little 32-seat pleasure palace on S 1st is former Trio sous chef Todd Duplechan’s homage to all Austin locavores. I absolutely adore this place.

Dine-at-the-Radisson-Austin-TX

Dine at the Radisson

David Garrido, longtime exec at the legendary Jeffrey’s is back at Dine (formerly Chavez) at the Radisson. He is cooking up a storm along with Mark Medina. Easter brunch from 11-3 with no charge for kids 10 or under. Dine more than fills the gap left in that area by Shoreline Grill’s departure.

III Forks

This splendid downtown steakhouse is having their Easter Brunch from 12-8pm. Chef Adrian has got this impeccably appointed restaurant fired up to a new high. Just ask anyone from our Gonzo Gourmet Club!

Freda’s Seafood Grill

Long a fixture in north Austin, Freda’s has always had excellent and reasonably priced holiday brunches. This year figures to be no exception as the goodies began at 9am and continue to 3pm. Right across from Lakeline Mall on Pecan Park. Say hi to Freda, Ronald Cheng’s sister.

Contigo

I liked this place off Airport right out of the box and it has yet to disappoint. Their ranch-inspired menu is incredibly tasty without being overwhelming. Their brunch menu abounds with goodies like Rabbit with Dumplings, Pozole Soup, Beef Tongue Hash to name a few. 10-2 on the 27th so book now!

The Goodnight

Those who follow our web site and my KLBJ reviews and updates know that the Goodnight has landed a major force in the kitchen with exec chef James Ramsey. The former chef/owner of Silver and Stone in Georgetown has done a great job at the Goodnight since he took over the helm 3-4 months ago. Brunch this Easter will run from 11-4 and feature some of his newest creations.

Zax

Zax Austin on Barton Springs will roll open its doors from 11-3 on Easter featuring a la carte menu offerings with some additional specials. This classic American Bistro has perhaps the best Tortilla Soup around and wonderful sandwiches along with some very inventive entrees.

2nd Bar and Kitchen Restaurant

2nd Bar and Kitchen

This David Bull creation took off the day it opened its doors and it’s still packed most of the time. Why? Because the food is simply amazing. Like the Pepperoni Soup for instance, influenced by Bull’s grandmother or the Veal Meatballs Arrabbiata. And do try the Pork Belly Banh Mi. And they have by far the most interesting Fried Pickles in town. Brunch is from 11-4.
